дрейфовое течение
Поверхностное течение, которое возникает в результате передачи энергии от ветра поверхностным океанским водам. Иногда называемая дрейфом Экмана или ветровым дрейфом, истинная реакция поверхностных вод проходит кратковременную фазу, во время которой масса поверхностных вод смещается, создавая наклон поверхности моря поперек направления ветра. Однажды возникнув, поверхностное течение перемещается в направлении ветра, сохраняясь до тех пор, пока ветер не переменится, что потребует другого смешения в наклоне поверхности моря, и т. д.
